Ooops, we were wrong about the DoS (Denial of Service)… We just checked our Alexa rankings and yesterday we hit 15,437!

We might have to move to a better server soon due to unexpected spike in traffic although our quad-CPU should be able to handle up to 300K visitors per day.

We have really shot ourselves on the foot for last 12 hours or so. Our server kept stalling because we thought it was some kind of DoS (Denial of Service) attack. It turns out our latest feature GoogleMaps settings were goofy and we fixed it so our serve is humming again.

On the positive note, we did all kinds of optimizations to the server due to our thinking that this was a DoS attack. It seems like the server is running much faster now. It’s also good thing we took care of this small OOPs before our ad goes out tomorrow on JohnChow.com.

Our server was down for couple minutes here and there between 3am and 7am PST.  The OBW Team stayed up all night fighting some nasty DoS (Denial of Service) attacks from spammers and other hackers. It was great thing that Max was a hacker himself.  It took all night but we finally think we have put it under control.  Now the OBW Team is going to sleep so all orders will be processed tonight when we wake up again.

P.S. If it comes back, we already have lots of tools in our bag to really kill it for good so…

Wow, our server went down couple times this early morning around 3AM. We’ve been calling Cari.Net to find out what was going on. We made couple changes to our settings so this won’t happen again but it seems like it’s some kind of hardware problem.

Yey! We made about $600 from page sales on our $400 investment on JohnChow.com on Monday. That’s a nice 50% profit.

We just re-invested $600 for an Ad spot that came up on JohnChow.com. If we can sell enough pages to make $900, that’d be our safe target. If we sell more, that’s awesome!

We have been testing some ads with BidVertiser but cannot say for sure if we should invest more money there yet. We are also working on to integrate Google Checkout so we can use Google AdSense to drive more traffic to the site. (Google Checkout gives you free transactions upto 10 times amount of money spent on Google Adsense)

Once our page sales picks up a little bit more, we should be going very viral indeed…
